We have booked The Basin for 16 & 17 September 2023.
Who
- Anyone from fifteen years or under minimum age in under 14s this coming season.
- Cadets doing their Bronze Medallion.
- All Marlins and Dolphins.
- All youth must be accompanied by a parent with a current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- All participants are required to be financial members of the Newport Surf Life Saving Club.
Date & Time
- Saturday, 16 September and Sunday, 17 September 2023.
- 9 am ferry from Palm Beach Wharf for a 10 am start.
- Return Sunday on the 1 pm barge or the 1:20 pm, 2:20 pm or 3:20 pm ferry.
Plan
- Introductory and refresher training for Surf Rescue Certificate and Bronze Medallion.
- Training in water rescue techniques, CPR, first aid and surf rescue techniques.
- Fun paddling boards, swimming, rowing surf boats.
- Introduction to the Surf Lifesaving power craft with Jet Skis and IRBs.
- Refresher on signals.
- Training in radio communications and patrolling.
Activities
- Team building exercises, having a great time with your friends, or making new ones around the campfire while sharing stories and marshmallows.
Travel Cost
- Palm Beach Ferry tickets return prices: Adults $16.40/Under 15 $8.20 return.
- Please pay the ferry driver direct.
Cost including all Food and Camp Site Fees
- SRC, Bronze Cadets and parents are $80.50 per person (including the booking fee) plus barge cost TBC.
- Day trippers/visitors’ lunches and snacks are $60.50 (including the booking fee).
- Bookings will close on 12 September 2023.
- The maximum number of participants is 60.

- All Meals provided: Breakfast, Lunch (x2) and Dinner.
- Bring snacks if you need them.

- Drink bottle
- Small tent or (a share in a tent)
- swimmers
- Wetsuit
- Two towels (they get wet!)
- Warm clothing
- Sleeping bag
- Pillow
- Torch
- Toiletries
- Eating utensils
- Plates and bowls
- Pink rashies (or yellow Newport rashie)
- Lifejacket (if you have one)
DO NOT bring any electronic devices.
Parents
- Each child needs to have adult supervision for before and after activities.
- We will request assistance from parents for campsite help such as BBQ, breakfast, sandwiches etc. Please let us know if you are available.
- PLEASE MAKE US AWARE OF ANY MEDICAL CONDITIONS THAT WE MAY NEED TO KNOW ABOUT (the booking system will prompt you for this information).
- All participants are required to be financial members of the Newport Surf Lifesaving Club.
