The Annual Pub2Pub was a huge success

The Pub2Pub Fun Run and Finish Line Festival is over for another year and what a success it was.  Nearly 4,000 runners were greeted at the finish line by blue skies and smiling Newport Club members and then as the runners recovered they enjoyed the surf club’s lovely pop-up beer garden, fantastic music all day, children’s rides, face painting, roving entertainers,  international food fair and the patrol on the beach all adding to the fun of the Finish Line Festival.

A massive thank you to all the volunteers from our Club that turned out and pitched in to make the event successful, what a show of support from Newport SLSC for this fantastic community event and substantial charity fundraiser.

The Club only created the Finish Line Festival last year, however, what a brilliant way to showcase our community strength with substantially more than 100 Newport members turning out to help make the festival  and the finish line operate so smoothly and successfully.

Special thanks to Ian Crutch for coordinating the finish line tasks, Michael King for sourcing and managing the entertainment, Peter Tullett for coordinating the small army of athletes and parents on the BBQ, Bev and the Bar Committee for coordination of the bar operation and Sandy Beard (Academy Chair) for sourcing and managing the children’s entertainment, showcasing the major charities on the day, coordinating our marketing, financial management and pretty much being hands on with all the pre-planning and anything that needed to be done on the day.

To our supporting sponsors for the Finish Line Festival component of the event, United Resource Management, 4Pines Brewing Company and CVEM Security Group again thank you for your support.
