Thank You to All Our Wonderful Swimmers

We would like to thank all the wonderful swimmers who supported the Pool to Peak ocean swims on what turned out to be a wonderful day. It was great to see old swimming friends catching up before and after the swims. The ocean swimming fraternity is very friendly and we all enjoy getting out there with nature.

All timing anklets were accounted for after the swims. That’s great because if we lose any it comes off our bottom line. Thank you for making sure we got your anklet back.

We think we turned on a great day for all our swimmers. Quite a few completed both swims which is a big effort. But without you, our swimmers, turning up on the day there would be no Pool to Peak. All funds raised go towards essential lifesaving equipment and maintenance for Newport Surf Club so the more swimmers who turn up the better.

What a Great Effort by All Our Volunteers

We have had a lot of good feedback about the Pool to Peak with a lot of compliments about the friendliness and efficiency of our volunteers. We had an army of people who turned out for the day working on registrations, setting up the beach, laying the buoys, supervising parking, looking after guests, on bag security and the important safety team who made sure all swimmers got back safely. And, of course, we had our fruit cutting team preparing the delicious Harris Farm Markets fruit for the swimmers when they returned to the beach.

It’s an enormous effort to put on an event like the Pool to Peak. A great effort by everyone. Thank you so much for helping us.

It was good to see the former Prime Minister Tony Abbot MP with his daughter taking on the swims. Although the surf at Newport Beach is probably not as dangerous as the scene at Parliament House! We believe there are some treacherous rips in Canberra.
