Beach cleanup, 2000 pieces of rubbish collected!

The recent floods and consequent receding waters have left much of the East Coast amid a Muckageddon. Although our little community was luckily spared most of the severe damage of our neighbours up the Hawkesbury, Newport did receive its share of debris.

Thankfully, members of our Kinghorn team of athletes & Patrol 2 with their Take 3 for the Sea gloves and bags gave back to our beach on Saturday.

Lizzie Welborn, Kinghorn’s Sustainability Leader headed the program was shocked at the amount of rubbish found.

The total number of pieces of rubbish collected was easily over 2000 because there were so many small pieces.
