Background

  • The groundswell membership of Surf Life Saving membership in the 2020-2021 season is ~39% female and ~61% male. Our leadership across all levels of the organisation is heavily male-skewed. By celebrating, empowering and inspiring our female membership through an inclusive network, we have the opportunity to encourage them to take on leadership opportunities at Club, Branch, State, and National levels.
  • Pink Zinc Patrol is an all-female voluntary patrol that aims to showcase our capabilities and progress since 1980 when females were first allowed to gain their Bronze Medallion. The patrol allows women of all ages to network, upskill and learn in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
  • Inspired by Point Lonsdale and Ocean Grove SLSC’s Pink Zinc Patrols, Whale Beach SLSC is partnering with Surf Life Saving Northern Beaches to provide a patrol of highly qualified females to keep the public in safe hands and inspire others.
