Season Welcome

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the start of the 2021/22 season.

I hope everyone enjoyed their offseason despite the lockdown situation and are ready to get back into the season.

As of this moment, the information I have been given is that Surf Life Saving is an Emergency Service and Patrols will be commencing on the 18th of September.  I have a Club Captains meeting with SLSNSW on the 9th of September and will hopefully have some more definitive information after this meeting regarding how our patrols will look and if there are any additional requirements that we need to follow.

I have attached the Patrol Roster 2021-22. If anyone is looking to swap between patrols this season, could they please let me know as soon as possible so we can get the roster list finalised in the app.

Proficiencies for this season will be going ahead at this stage, broken up into 3 sections. An online, a dry and a wet component.  SLSA should be releasing the online component on the 1st of September which will need to be completed prior to arriving for your dry proficiency.

This season we are implementing a minimum booking number of 15 to ensure that assessors are not turning up to a proficiency of 5 people.  It also ensures that we have enough assessors for a larger group to ensure things run as smoothly as possible. Bookings for proficiencies will be mandatory this season for multiple reasons.

This season the booking system will give us an additional contact tracing system.  You will be required to QR scan into your dry proficiency, and we will be using the booking system for contact tracing for the wet proficiencies.  In addition to a minimum number for proficiencies, there will also be a maximum.  As we are not allowed to have large gatherings due to Government restrictions proficiencies will be capped at 50.  If you have not booked and the proficiency is full you will be turned away as we will have to abide by COVID restrictions and our COVID-19 Safety Plan.

The added bonus of booking in for your proficiency is if there is a change or cancellation, we can email you and let you know.  Bookings will be open until 2hrs before the proficiency so there is plenty of time to book. All the above may change based on Government restrictions so I will keep everyone advised.

Proficiency dates and times will be released closer to the start of the season once we have some more clarity from SLSNSW.

Membership renewals are now open through the members area.  Just a reminder that everyone needs to be renewed by the 30th of November to be covered by insurance.  If anyone has any problems renewing their membership, please contact our registrar, Eric Crooke.

Hope you are all staying safe and look forward to seeing you all on the beach.

Thanks,
