Umina Winter Camp For Our Nippers

For the second year, Newport Surf Club held the Newport Nippers Winter Board Camp for our competitive Nippers. This winter 22-kids attend the three-day camp where they were put through a variety of water and land sessions. Although the sessions testing their strength and endurance, there was plenty of rest time in between sessions. The kids had time to build on old and new friendships and spent whatever energy they still had bouncing on the enormous “Jumping Pillow”.

The Head Coach, Aaron Morris did an amazing job putting a program that suited all levels during the camp. According to Bec Capell, Nipper Chairman, “the kids came home with a sense of achievement and increased confidence”. However, Bec contends, the children came back “possibly not as tired as the parents would have hoped for!”

This weekend could not have happened without the support of the Academy and the teamwork of Hilary Maggs and Aaron Morris. It was also wonderful to see our senior athletes give their time to help with water safety and encourage the Juniors. Big thank you to Conner Maggs, Mitch, and Jake Morris.
