Junior Branch Water Championships, Sunday 29 January 2023 by Rebecca Capell

Super proud of our water competitors who did branch today. It was the first time in many years we had an all-age relay. Well done to our little new competitors Koa, Sean and Oscar who were part of the all-age relay. Conditions were dumpy but you did it and made us all so proud.

Sportsmanship and team spirit ran high today, with everyone cheering each other on and watching out for each other. For our small team, we were holding our ground bringing in plenty of bling. At last check, Newport came in third.

Days like today can not be done without massive support from parents and coaches. Thank you to everyone who nominated themselves for a role.

Open Branch Water Championships, Saturday 28 January 2023

Newport dominated the event finishing some 300 points clear of Manly in the water area. I am very proud of the way the club raced by mixing up teams and including some of the less experienced athletes in open teams from our under-17 boys and girls to give them the opportunity to race with some of the best and this made the competition a lot of fun.

Big thank you to the officials at our January carnivals and for gaining positions at State and Aussies.
