NSW State Championships – Newport won the Open point score for the 9th season in a row, and the pleasing this is that all members of the water team contributed a point towards the team total.

There are so many highlights, but here are mine below:
- The Lifesaving team (Champion Lifesaver, Patrol Comp and First Aid) won the point score and delivered 54 points towards the Open carnival.
- Lizzie Welborn: 12 finals, 10 medals, won 6 golds, including the Open ironwomen for the first time and was named the standout performer for the carnival.
- Bailey Clues took out the u19 ironman.
- Newport was first and second in the inaugural Mixed Taplin.
- Analise Kibble’s 19 races over the weekend as a u19 were the most by any competitor, and she picked up the u19 ski gold, board silver, iron silver, 3rd surf race, plus multiple team medals.
- We won 27 gold medals in total.
- The Newport Masters (for the over 30s) finished 6th on the point score for the first time with a small team of about 16 from the Lifesaving, Beach and Water areas.
A massive thank you to the IRB, officials and logistic teams.

Now we move on to the Aussies, and as you would have seen, two shipping containers have arrived and were loaded on Saturday, 11 March. Good luck to all those competitors travelling to Scarborough Beach, WA.
